I have over ten years experience in
freelance journalism writing for The
Times, The Financial Times, The Sunday
Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday
Express, The Daily Mail and British
Airways Business Life magazine amongst
others on subjects ranging from business
and management to marketing, the internet,
commercial and residential property,
education and the environment.
Amongst the business
subjects I have covered are the effects
of the internet on small businesses,
attempts by companies and organisations
to change their brand names, issues
surrounding pesticides and health,
the value of warranties and guarantees,
efforts by companies to improve staff
'buy-in' and loyalty, the growth of
the crisis PR sector, the use of company
incentives and reward schemes and
changes in the short let office market.
Others stories I've
covered include the plight of Asylum
seekers in Dover, the growth of counterfeit
currency, racism in the West Country,
the risks faced by journalists reporting
from hostile environments as well
as exposing an incompetently run private
school in West London that was subsequently
closed by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate
of Schools.
Before becoming
a journalist I started my career in
financial and corporate public relations
at Broad Street Associates where his
clients included British Airways,
Saatchi & Saatchi and George Wimpey
amongst others, before I joined the
in house PR department at WHSmith,
specialising in investor relations
and issue management.
Having worked with
the journalists I was keen to see
things from their stand point and
so I became a gamekeeper turned poacher
which gives me essential experience
of and useful insights into the media
relations business.
